Fashion Predictions 2017
I have loved fashion since I was a teenager. I always followed trends by shopping at Macy's and Gap and satisfying my cravings with cheaper choices. I highly recommend to splurge on a few time-less, key items, and save your pocket book when following fashion trends. I love expressing my individuality through words and my clothes. Nothing tell you more about a person than how they talk and how they dress. After obsessively studying the fashion trends for the last two years, I feel I can take the next step and make predictions on what we will see on the runway. Here goes:
Sky-High Heels & Platforms: Women have always been about shoes. One can never have too many pair of shoes. I say one can never have too many shoes of one color. 2016 I decided to expand my shoe collection and bought red Kate Spade Pumps, Black Tory Burch Slides, and Blue Charlotte Olympia flats. I predict this year designers will go crazy with shoes. They will be higher (Sorry tall girls :(), more embellished and bejeweled. What I loved about my Kate Spade pumps were the crystals on the heels. I think designers should not ignore that part of the shoe and make it beautiful too. Sophia Webster is another designer who concentrates on the back part of the shoe. Absolutely beautiful!
Silk Scarves: I think scarves are going to make a come-back. I am thinking Audrey Hepburn during Breakfast at Tiffany's and Roman Holiday era. You will find scarves worn as belts, hair ties, chokers, and much more. So go to your nearest Hermes store and get your hands on a silk scarf.
Knit Fabric: I think this year designers will play with fabric. Velvet was such a huge hot last year that they want to focus on the fabric rather than cuts. We will see a variety of fabrics in the market in some of 2016 styles. Crop tops, cold-shoulders, and regular tee shirts or pullovers are here to stay. Playful fabrics will be something new and exciting!
Belted Shirts: Belted clothes made such an impact on the eastern fashion industry. I think that trend will soon make its way to the west. Belts have been an accessory to dresses and skirts, but not tops. I think this year fashionistas will wear beautiful belts with simple tops. Lovely!
Fur: I think faux fur will be all the rage in the fall and winter season. We saw some fur in 2016 and I think it's going to be bigger and better in 2017. Vests, fur-trimmed jackets, and coats, scarves, gloves, etc will all have patches of fur here and there. I am a big animal lover so only faux fur for me please.
